The Order of Christianity

Our responsibility as Christians does not end in the physical church we attend. What Jesus said in Matthew 28:19, "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost", was a Commandment to His Disciples then. This same Commandment applies to us in our generation. Are you being obedient?

We believe when we call ourselves Christians, we are declaring we are disciples of Jesus Christ, and as disciples are bound to the responsibility and allegiance as the 12 Disciples were that Jesus called. This responsibility does not end by simply going to church on Sundays, doing our personal daily devotion or attending small group meetings. These activities are basic Christian actions necessary so that we may grow in our faith, develop fellowship with one another and worship Christ as a corporate body. Nonetheless, these activities are more for our self-edification. The Lord expects us to grow beyond this level.

A true follower of Christ is not simply to know that one has the assurance of eternal life and to rest at that. In Matthew 13:44, Jesus spoke a parable, "Again the kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hid in a field, the which when the man hath found, he hides and for a joy thereof goes and sells all that he has and buys that field". The man who found the treasure (salvation) initially kept it to himself and the product of his salvation was a transformed life (joy). As a result, because of overflowing joy, he just could not help but share it to others so he used his resources to influence the world (field). You and I ought to do the same.

Our Christianity has to reach beyond our homes and our churches. It is by looking beyond our personal bounderies and our unselfish giving of our resources that the work of Righteousness will be advanced all over the world. Are you giving to help Christian missionaries reach people outside of your reach?

In Isaiah 6:8, Isaiah heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us? Then I said, "Here I am". Isaiah was not directly called by God but Isaiah heard God’s call and answered because he was listening and the condition of his heart was that of obedience.

The call of God to evangelize the world was the same then as it is now. You have a role to play in this Great Order. Are you listening?
