Dear Friends and Partners:
From December 11 to 17, 2006, I visited our mission fields in order to assess the work the Lord has allowed us to do through your support. Following are the villages/tribes we visited:
AKEBU
I spent Monday night in Akebu. The church planted there is growing well as the missionary working there succeeded in training the indigence of the village. The main challenge of this church is that they need some materials because some month ago, thunder has completely damaged their TV, DVD and generator that we have been using to show the Jesus film to introduce the Lord to the villagers. The need therefore in that village amounts to $1,200. For the missionary couple working there, they need $200 monthly.
ANUFO 1
We have planted seven churches among the Anufo People who have a muslim background. The largest church has 100 members in the village of Kaditieri (the children with inside) and the smallest at Nagbati has 10 members. Islam is struggling to win these people but the Lord is doing a strong work through our missionaries.
An old man aged 75 gave himself to the Lord in the village just because the missionary there brought his child who was sick to the hospital and took care of him with the little money he has. And the child was healed!
Last week, two barren women gave birth a baby each after a missionary had prayed for them.
Praise God! This caused some Fulani women to visit this missionary so that he can pray for them to.
The challenge in this village is the housing condition of the missionaries. They need mattresses, Each mattress costs about CFA 80,000 or $80.00. Since we have nine of them, we need $720.00. They also need 6 motorcycles. Each motorcycles costs $900 for $5,400.00.
ANUFO 2
We have planted two churches among the Ngangam, the Djabou and the Djedjabou people. Missionaries would like to build a temple so they need $600 to make the doors and windows from Harmattan.
They are planning to start a primary school in the village to help children who have to track about 10 km to go to school. The need amounts to $200 since the parents are ready to help with some of the funds.
The missionaries are also anxious to continue teaching the villagers about the dangers of early marriages or forced marriages. In this village, old men marry girls aged from 10 to 12. This leads to death of many girls while delivering a child.
We are also working with the chiefs of the villages to fight diseases in schools and hospitals. When this project started, we received help from the World Bank. But this was a one-time support. Our desire is to continue on. We need two motorcycles for $1,800.00.
KARA
We want to build a discipleship center in this city. The purpose is to train our new converts.
God has given us a land of 2 hectares in a village called Agbalossi (17 km away fromKara). To build such a center, we need $6,000.
There is also a need for a well on-site which amounts to $1,000.00.
TRAINING
To be able to finish the work, we need to train more laborers. Since July 17, 2000 to this date, we have trained 40 missionaries and some of them have stepped-up to the plate as leaders. Some of these missionaries are serving the Lord now in Burkina-Faso.
The challenge in this school is that many students don't have enough means to pay the subsidy fee of $360 for their school expenses. The school needs $1,000 monthly to function. In addition, the school needs a bus with 18 seats which costs $7,000.00. The bus, the school has been using, is having engine trouble.
HEAD OFFICE
The Lord is opening doors to us and we have access to many churches to talk about missions. In our discipleship program (DIMEP) that we hold every weekend, the number of participants is increasing. We are really encouraged to serve the church this way. But our hearts are still in the villages where people have no access to the Gospel, the only salvation for the nations.
The greatest need of the office is to buy a Toyota 4x4 in order to make our trips into villages easier and to be able to double our effort in evangelization. It costs $10,000.00.
FUTURE PLAN
We are considering to work in the central region, where there is a greater muslim population. This is our focus this year. Please pray with us about this burden.
May God richly bless you as you pray along with us so that His Kingdom may come!
Thanks!
Your brother and fellow servant,
Sylvain Beling
